Canada's Morneau wins AL MVP
I was pleased to find out today that Justin Morneau won the AL Most Valuable Player trophy. Not only does this show great things about where Canadian baseball is headed, it also now means that 3 of the 4 major North American sports have Canadian's as their MVP.
Justin Morneau, American League MVP
Steve Nash, National Basketball Association MVP
Joe Thorton, National Hockey League MVP
Bring on the NFL.

For those of you who have heard me talk about my friends from home in the band, Grand:PM, their new record hits store shelves this spring in Canada. You can hear snippets from their album at their myspace page -- http://www.myspace.com/grandpm
They are going to be huge, jump on the band wagon while you still can. Plus, some of you will have been able to say you saw them in our suite in Hillside. Pass this on to your friends, spread the word.

Toronto FC actually has players now...
Major League Soccer held its 2006 Expansion Draft for Toronto FC on Friday, with the team selecting 10 players to begin constructing its roster for the 2007 season. Toronto FC selected a player from each of the six Eastern Conference teams and one from four Western Conference teams. FC Dallas and the Colorado Rapids were the two teams that did not have a player selected in the draft.
These 10 are added to Canadian midfielder, Jim Brennan who had already been signed and the 4 unnamed player signings who should be anounced shortly.
Below is the complete list of players selected in the 2006 MLS Expansion Draft.
1. Paulo Nagamura (Los Angeles Galaxy)
2. Danny O'Rourke (New York Red Bulls)
3. Jose Cancela (New England Revolution)
4. Adrian Serioux (Houston Dynamo)

The Big Hurt in the Great White North
Wow, it looks like my beloved Blue Jays are on the cusp of signing former White Sox and Athletic, Frank Thomas. "The Big Hurt" as he is affectionately known has had an amazing career including a very strong 2007. While he has the track record, the concern has always been the injury bug. Can he avoid it with Toronto? Here's to hoping so!

Upcoming Alleycat Ride...
Taz from ECBA is the brains behind this one so expect something different.
Meet downtown on court square, bring your bike, $2 donation, a costume if you've got one and all of your friends. Helmets, lights and some warm clothes are also encouraged.
Hope to see you out there,
Ben
